Extremists are blocking US sanctions, says President Rouhani

 


Tehran: Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has criticized the country's conservatives and hardliners, saying they are an obstacle to lifting US sanctions.


According to a foreign news agency, elections are about to take place in Iran, while the new US government is also signaling to restore the agreement with Iran.


In such a situation, President Hassan Rouhani, while addressing the nation on TV, said without naming names that if there was even an hour delay in lifting the sanctions due to any class or person, it would be a great betrayal of the country and the nation A small minority is becoming an obstacle in the way of lifting sanctions and it has to stop its destructive act. If it stops, the government can lift sanctions.

Rouhani said there were "very favorable conditions" for lifting sanctions at the moment and that the United States was ready to resume the agreement, but that this required practical action, not just a verbal deposit.


France's foreign minister has called pre-election electoral politics in Iran an obstacle to the resumption of the nuclear deal.


On the other hand, Iranian extremists say that US sanctions are proof that President Rouhani's policies of shaking hands with enemies have failed. If the agreement is not restored, Hassan Rouhani's chances of winning the next election may be slim.


In 2015, Iran struck a deal with world powers that lifted sanctions on it, in exchange for which Iran promised to end its nuclear program, but then Donald Trump The government rescinded the agreement and re-imposed sanctions.


President Joe Biden's new US administration has indicated it intends to renew the deal with Iran. In this regard, Iran says that first the United States will lift sanctions, then it will abide by the agreement, while the United States is demanding that Tehran take the initiative.
