What will be the future strategy of PDM after the defeat in the election of Chairman Senate?

Following the victory of government candidates in yesterday's election of Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Senate, what strategy are the leaders of the opposition political alliance Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) now adopting? And what will be their future strategy?

These are the questions that are being asked repeatedly to the PDM leadership.

It should be noted that on March 12, the government candidate Sadiq Sanjarani won the election of the new chairman of the upper house of Pakistan, the Senate, with 48 votes and he has been elected to this post for the second time in a row. On the other hand, the post of Deputy Chairman was also given to a government candidate on which Mirza Muhammad Afridi was elected with 54 votes out of 98.

Yousuf Raza Gilani, the joint candidate of the Pakistan Democratic Movement, a political alliance of the opposition against Sadiq Sanjarani, got 42 votes in the election of the Senate chairman. Yousuf Raza Gilani's seven votes were rejected and the opposition is now considering taking the matter to the Election Tribunal.

In a press conference held immediately after the election of the chairman and deputy chairman of the Senate, PPP leader Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar said, "We will either go to court or launch a no-confidence motion by taking a joint decision." But the final decision will be made by the PDM.

Speaking to the BBC, PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal said, "What happened in the election of the chairman of the Senate has further strengthened our statement. The government has proved what we have been saying.

On the issue of government candidate Mirza Afridi getting 54 votes out of 98 and opposition members getting a few votes, PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal said, Has an effect. If our chairman was Yousuf Raza Gilani, you would see that the deputy chairman would also come to us. It's about being influenced. "

Speaking to BBC Urdu, senior journalist Muhammad Zia-ud-Din said that the opposition is an 11-party alliance. The role of the opposition is to keep the government alert. In the current situation, the economy is a very important issue, such as inflation and unemployment.

According to Mohammad Zia-ud-Din, the resignation of the opposition was just a threat because soon again the election is a very difficult task.

He said that the opposition also put pressure on the government through by-elections. He said that from the point of view of the government, the opposition candidate could not be promoted to the post of acting president.

According to Zia-ud-Din, important decisions are made by the army. "They won Yousuf Raza Gilani but now he could not be elected chairman of the senate," he said, adding that the government was looking at it as a major victory while it was not a victory for the government. Celebrate

"Everyone knows who brought Sadiq Sanjarani to the post of chairman of the Senate and then thwarted the no-confidence motion against him."

"Now the opposition will not even go to the polls but it can go on strike."

In response to a question, Zia-ud-Din said that in the past Benazir Bhutto had to start the march from Lahore but then later there was such pressure that the march could not take place.

"Benazir herself told me that you will soon see the consequences of not marching."

Zia-ud-Din says Nawaz Sharif's government ended a few days later because the then army chief, General Abdul Waheed Kakar, played the role of mediator and paved the way for new elections. Zia-ud-Din said that if the opposition goes on a long march, it will be too big and the government may be shaken by it. However, in his view, the signs are that the opposition should not do so.

"It would be unrealistic to expect relief from the court."

According to Muhammad Zia-ud-Din, in the current situation, it seems that the opposition will not be able to get any success in this case even in the court.

Commenting on the situation, journalist and analyst Mubashir Zaidi said, "It would be an illusion of the opposition to get any relief from the courts."

He said that the election of the chairman of the senate with the opposition was the same as that of the government candidate Abdul Hafeez Sheikh in the election of the senate.

"Thus, the case of the opposition is as weak as it was after the government lost its general seat in the Senate elections."

While Ahsan Iqbal of PML-N thinks that these votes could not be rejected in any way. There are decisions of the High Court and the Supreme Court in which the court has said that the intention of the voter is meaningful. The mark can be placed on the name.

Ahsan Iqbal further said that the transparency of this election has been unveiled. We want the supremacy of the constitution and the law and if there could be so much rigging in the Upper House elections then what will happen in other elections has also come to light. Our movement has become stronger and the importance of the Long March has increased even more.

It may be recalled that an important meeting regarding the long march of PDM was held on February 4 in which besides PDM President Maulana Fazlur Rehman, PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Mahmood Khan Achakzai and others
