ISLAMABAD: The Federal Cabinet on Tuesday approved a Ramadan package of Rs 7.8 billion in a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister under which 19 items would be subsidized through utility stores.
After the cabinet meeting, Federal Minister for Industry and Trade Hamad Azhar during a press briefing with Fawad Chaudhry said that under the Ramadan package, a discount of Rs 30.50 on flour, Rs 40 on sugar and Rs 43 on ghee, depending on the current price in the market. Rs.20 on oil, Rs.15 on dal gram, Rs.10 on dal mung and dal mash, Rs.30 per kg on dal lentils, Rs.25 per kg on white gram, Rs.20 per kg on basin, Rs.20 per kg on dates, Rs.10 per kg on rice. The subsidy will be Rs 12 per kg on broken rice and also on various beverages, milk and chillies.
Hamad Azhar further said that 51 out of 85 government entities are profitable. The Cabinet also approved forensic audit of loss-making entities. The Cabinet was informed that in the first phase, Pakistan Railways, Pakistan International Airlines Corporation, Sui Southern Gas Company Limited, Peshawar Electric Supply Company and Genco Three Northern Power Generation Company Limited are being subjected to forensic audit. This process will be completed by June 30, 2021.
In the next phase, Pakistan Post, Quetta Electric Supply Company, Hyderabad Electric Supply Company, Lahore Electric Supply Company and Sukkur Electric Supply Company will be audited. The cabinet also approved the issuance of prohibited and non-prohibited weapons licenses and the issuance of smart cards for Afghan refugees.

The Cabinet also accepted the resignation of Aun Abbas as Chief Treasurer.
Hamad Azhar said that the issue of changing the margins of oil marketing companies as per the rules and regulations was also discussed in detail in the cabinet. The large-scale manufacturing industry has seen a growth rate of 9.1% in January, an overall growth rate of 7.8% from July to January, and our industry is close to operating at full capacity.
He said that people like Mahmood Achakzai, Aftab Sherpao are asking to resign, all those who have no part in the system are asking for resignations. The Prime Minister spoke on the transparency of elections. The entire PTI movement stands on two pillars of accountability and transparent elections. He added that the cabinet has approved the issuance of smart cards to these Afghan refugees.
