Angry mob attacks Argentine president's car

Buenos Aires: Dozens of angry protesters pelted stones and smashed car windows at a minibus carrying Argentine President Alberto Fernandez in the Patagonia region.

Dozens of angry mobs stormed President Fernandez's minibus outside a community center in the southern Argentine province of Chobat, according to the international news agency. Protesters pelted the president's car, kicked and punched him, shattering his car windows.

The incident happened as the country's president was visiting a forested area where one person was killed and dozens injured, but the protest was against plans to resume mining.

The video, which went viral on social media, showed angry crowds gathering at the entrance to the community center and chanting slogans against government measures.

Speaking to reporters after the incident, President Fernandez said the attackers had a violent mentality that had hardly any support in the province of Chubot or in the whole of Argentina. Bullying cannot change government policies.
